USA lifts travel warning for TUnisia

And about time too!

Our boat was in Yasmine during the uprising. I travelled there two months later to a chorus of warnings from friends and colleagues in the UK who said I was mad to go. On arrival I noticed a lack of the usual police on the roads and more military but apart from that it felt like the same place I'd left some months earlier. Sadly the resort was deserted thanks to the eager and sensationalised reporting of the worlds media. Since then there have been localised events which have continued to deter the package holiday makers.

Some perspective is needed when determining personal risk. Remember the riots in the UK? I saw it on TV but experienced none of it although I live only 40 miles from London.

We were in Greece when there were riots in Athens and knew nothing about it until we returned home. Ditto for the disturbances in Istanbul, there was no sign of problems in Didim.

I hope that now people will return to Tunisia, it's a great country, lovely people and the diesel is soooo cheap!

Hi Do you have any contact details for the Marina at Cap Monastir . The email address capitaineriemonastir@topnet.tn is not working and the website seems to be in Japeneese! Glad to hear you had a good experience as we are planning to winter there.

Also take a look at Port Yasmine. A heck of a lot more modern with all floating dock and much better security and close to Tunis.
