US / UK Raymarine compatability???

Putting aside shipping, import duty, VAT etc has anyone got experience of actually using US Raymarine radar, plotter or VHF over here. Model numbers for the scanner and plotter seem the same uk and us but different thing with the VHF as model numbers for uk/us not the same, praps CE approval or something but, hey, 2.1 dollars to the pound ?

I purchased two RL80CRC chart/radar displays and a 4kw scanner from US dealers. All worked fine. One of the displays failed after 18 months and was replaced by Raymarine in the UK without question.

i bought a ds400 fish finder, was £100 cheaper but found once they got it here they do a US and rest of the world version. It displays it feet and fathoms not metres and fathoms - thats only difference and i like good old imperial anyway. shame on raymarine though for creating 2 versions..!
