Then do not bother to contact Vetus - their customer service stinks and I will be adding them to my list of who's stuff to avoid buying at all costs !

Where they will join Lowrance / Simrad amongst a few others.

To follow up I did today finally receive a reply, but the available help on their own products was simply useless.

However, I have worked out what the issue was and how to resolve it for myself.

So two weeks previously I had a similar issue due to severe slop in the control cables and linkages, so I thought the issue was fully resolved. So in what seems like a groundhog day - same time, same place - Cowes Yacht Haven (again).

When manoeuvring the boat alongside the outer pontoon I lost complete control of the Port engine when the Flybridge control lever instead of moving the gearbox linkage, instead transmitted the cable movement via the Differential Slider to the lower helm lever, leaving me in a close quarters manoeuvring situation, with several vessels nearby, and barely able to maintain stationary control with the stbd engine, although I did get a bow line ashore to the pontoon, but simply insufficient time to get to the lower helm station, without risk of collision with either another boat or the pontoon. Indeed I did make quite a hard contact with the pontoon and dinked a stainless protective strip on the stem, which now requires a minor repair.

So the Vetus control lever system allows complete loss of control of the engines in a way that in a properly designed set up should simply not be possible. Vetus technical cannot explain how their own devices operate nor how they are properly commissioned - get a Marine Engineering firm out - well really one of them has already been out - and cocked it up !

This device was only fitted last year and was paid for by the previous owners by a firm of Marine Engineers - and it is unlikely I have a recourse to them for incorrectly commissioning this Vetus Control system ?

So this simply one that goes down to experience !

This does reiterate why I do not allow 'Professionals' on my boats.
