I have turned my sailing cat into a power cat and now have a mast/boom/roller refeeing/sails to get rid off.
I am not trying to sell them on this forum!!!
Got a guy out here in France who would like to buy - but how much do I ask for???
All in good condition.
Any advice would be helpfull.

Is this a wind-up? Throwing away a perfectly good free source of endless entertainment & fun for a stinkprop conversion! Oooeerr, I don't feel very well, I must have a lie down.
Seriously tho' you may be making a serious dint in your resale value. Bear that in mind when setting a price.

Why do people post stuff with such unhelpful titles? It's not the urgency of the advice being called for which attracts interest, it's the topic.

Agree 100%...but you can't legislate for the way peoples minds work (note..I refrain from using the infantile "peeps"!). Personally also bugged by the grade 2 spelling used on forums ('your' i/o 'you're,' etc.) buy, hey, I am learning to liv wiv it...and am bginin to fink va content is maw important van va spellin. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Mike,

Sorry, I can't suggest a price - look around the local yards to see what they charge for used stuff. Anyway, I was wondering what your reason was for switching to motor only. You still have the steel cat, no? Was it underpowered with the rig it had?

I don't know about France but I would say that one cannot expect more than 10% of the replacement value and that only if the items are in an exceptionally good condition. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Sad, I know, but sails are really not much more than a consumable.

Hi Kevin,
Thanks for a sensible reply after all the smart arsed comments prior to yours.
No she was not under powered, the simlpe truth is that the boss lady does not like white flappy bits anymore.
She spent the summer - 3 months or so - cruising up the canal du midi and she was as happy as larry. That is a good enough reason to not bother with sails. Even the bumpy crossing of the Etang du Thau did not put her off.
The simple answer would be to sell the cat and buy a mobo but having spent so much time / effort / money making the boat comfortable it would be a waste.
Mike

Mike,

That makes sense. Have you considered modifying the rig to be more of an auxilliary arrangement? Seems that there are more and more mobo's out with that option - don't know if it saves enough fuel to be worth it?
Cheers.
