Upholstery costs

With the possibility of a small 'windfall' in the offing, I am considering replacing the upholstery in my Twister. Obviously I will need to get quotes, but is anyone able to give me a very rough idea of what cost I might be looking at for a set of cushions - foam and covers? Usual two V berths forward and two benches amidships.

I had a similar job done by Jeckells in 2009 at under £1000. Very pleased with the result.

On my last boat I got new 4 new berth cushions, with covers, for about £400 (for the 4) from an upholsterers in Pembrokeshire. A bit of a distance for you, but for the price difference it might be worth it. This is them:

There was a bit of a misunderstanding with the sizes - I gave them the previous cushions to cut from and they measured with the shrunken covers on. My fault really. Nevertheless, they sorted it out neatly and promptly at no extra charge. Very professional, friendly, and good quality work.

Boat No. 2 has six saloon bench-seats and back-rests. I made up templates and sent them to a local (Ayrshire) upholsterer.
For the foam I bought a 4-inch foam king size mattress from Lidl and an electric bread-knife for cutting to shape.
Total cost: £150 for the covers. £76 for the foam. £4 for the knife, which also cuts bread.

I am currently replacing two berths which are 78" x (22" fat end x 14" thin end) x 4" deep plus 6 back cushions which are 24" x 18" x 2". I've gone direct to a trade supplier for the foam and this cost £90 in total (for firm grade fire resistant foam). The company in question supply the marine trade so know what they are doing but generally don't deal with the public. The same thing from someone like eFoam would cost about £120 including delivery. The material will not be to everyones taste as I've gone for marine acrylic canvas @ £16 per metre (1.5m wide) from CJ Marine which works out at £200 for 12 metres. It's a bit hard to the touch but is very good at repelling things dropped by a 3 year old. I would have liked to go for something like Microcare but at £35 per metre it's very expensive. The machining is going to cost me £150 including piping and zips (a friend of my wife who has a cottage industry doing this sort of thing at the bottom of her garden). So all up I'm looking at £440
