Thinking of upgrading my Tacktik (raymarine) T901 paddlewheel log to a no moving part version like' Airmar DST810 Smart Transducer'.

Has anyone done this, do I need to replace the thru hull housing (and liftout) ? and does it easily interface to the existing tacktic display ?

Are there other / better transducers to use ?

Thanks, Dave

The DST810 is a retired Airmar product that has a conventional moving paddlewheel...

Airmar makes a non moving part speed transducer...

It won't interface directly with your current Tacktick hull interface or wireless displays because it outputs Bluetooth and NMEA0183. To connect to your Tacktick wireless displays you would need a Tacktick T122 if you don't have one already.

Almost no Tacktick equipment is available new now as Raymarine have retired almost the whole product range (the compass remains). You can buy a T122 used on ebay still. I would not recommend spending money on an obsolete system.

I don't know if the transducer would fit your existing through-hull but Airmar makes all Raymarine log transducers including the former Tacktick one so Airmar will know.
