In my last post I had explained that I was having problems with the software and that it was dumping the plotting info minutes after I had pressed the start button.I use a Garmin Gecko run off the ships 12v system to supply GPS info to the laptop and the DSC radio. In case there were any conflict between the radio and the laptop I decided to connect the GPS directly to the laptop, in order to do this I had to install two AAA batteries into the Gecko. Once conected and booted up, the software worked a dream. To double check I re-connected the equipment back to its original configuration, to my surprise it worked perfect and the boat followed the route from waypoint to waypoint without error. The only thing different to the original configuration is that I had left the AAA batteries in the Gecko. I can only assume that the batteries are acting like a smoothing capacitor.
