Update on Garmin GPSMAP 751 (and others) software issues

Thanks for the update. Although I have the plotter and spare power lead at home I have no way of putting AIS in on port 2 away from the boat. I won't be able to get to the boat for another week or more as I have non boaty commitments until the end of next week. I will download the update and if no one else has tried it, will load and swap the ports over when I'm next at the boat.

Well, I managed to get down to the boat tonight and loaded the latest software update version 6.30 and all is now back working...

Obviously you all have to test it for yourselves, but it looks like the boffins at Garmin have fixed it
 
For the work you've done for at least 2 people down the yard on the 751.......when do you get your commission from Garmin......could stretch to a supper at Tollesbury this w/e:rolleyes:
 
Hi Larry -thanks for all the reporting on this and when I updated my 751 new in may 2016 it came installed with v4. ? Something from 2014 I believe. V frustrating when purchasing brand new 2 years on and via a reputable outlet. Updated to v6.5 so sounds like a few bugs this year - but very happy with unit and support to date. Looking at adding AIS for next year and your alert and updates from others are very welcome
 
Yeah, it has really been the only major blip with an update that I've experienced through 2 Garmin Plotters over 9 years, most of the updates are adding interconnect functionality for new features. 6.5 has been out since July. I'm surprised yours came with 4.x because that would indicate to me that this was "new old stock" rather than fresh from Garmin. They're very good at only dispatching updated kit
