I am having no luck trying to update the software on my lowrance global map 3330c and I have down loaded the gps data manager v6 and down loaded the up date from lowrance,s web site straight on to a new sd card made by Viking interworks using the card reader/writer that is built in to my laptop and the files show ok when I explore the sd card after doing so, But when I put the card into my gps nothing happens and when I browse the card it says there is no files !! So I am wondering if my card reader/writer on my laptop is not doing the job and maybe its another one of those rip off jobs where as one has to purchase a card reader/writer made by lowrance ?

I'm not familiar with your setup but it could be that the SD card when used and formatted for use in your laptop can not be read by the plotter. Perhaps a different file structure/ operating system? You may need to buy a Lowrance reader/writer.

Perhaps their's an option in the datamanager v6 software to format the memory card?

I did the first update without any special Lowrance readers. Check that the files are properly loaded onto the SD card. Make sure that you insert the card into the plotter correctly. Of the latest 2 updates, the one for the antenna must be done first. The procedure is reasonably well set out on the Lowrance site.

I've updated the 3600C this way.

Things to check:
1) Formatting of the SD card (from memory this needs to be Fat (Fat32?) - I'm sure this is discussed on the Lowrance website. May be safer to format the card in the plotter to be sure

2) Different SD cards have different speeds etc - so if 1) fails - can be worth trying a different brand / size of card if you have one to hand
