We are planning a trip next summer august/september to Paris via the Somme. We've done the trip before via the Seine but we now have 2 small kids and think that the Somme route will be more suitable for stuff like towpath cycling. If anyone who has done this route has any suggestions/comments, in particular;
1) pilotage into saint valery seems quite straightforward with the port saint valery chartlet of the buoyage. Is it? We only draw 1.1M.
2)Any suggestion as to where we could leave the boat for three weeks on the Somme. Our previous experience of the canals suggest that anywhere on the river will be cheaper than the marina at Saint Valery.
3) General suggestions regarding the route welcomed.

Thanks in advance
Pete

Hi,
1. Can't help.

2 Peronne.

3 Ensure canal is open & remember it is not run by the VNF but the local department [?].
