Unusual wind patterns this year in the Ionian

Instead of the usual calm mornings and wind rising around lunchtime to die in the evening, for the past week or so we have had relatively calm all day then starting to blow at around 5.30 rising to F 5-6 by 7.30 and only really calming down by 9.00.

Rather spoils the on-board barbecuing. Locals say it is not what they expect at this time of year at all.

50 knt winds that were not forecast and relatively cool compared to last year. We have been using a quilt at night up to now although the temperature seems to be on the rise now.

Looks like we got out of Greece just in time , fair winds to sail with and to keep us cool at anchor , followed by claim night , that's what we got so far in Italy , SIcily and Aeolian Island where we enjoying clear blue sky's and a breeze of 12 kts of cool fresh air as we sit in an anchorage with just 4 boats around us , not a charter boat in sight .
