Anyone have any ideas for me? My boyfriends birthday is rapidly approaching and I want to organise something a bit different. There will be about 20 of us and I would like it to have something to do with sailing.
My budget is about £1000 which would have to cover food - although I will cook/prepare this. Drink no problem as I will pop to France for that. So all I need now is a location. We live in Sussex but not far from the Solent so that is the area I am thinking of...so any ideas please?? Thanks!

Watery theme.

You can hire the tower on the waterfront of Porstmouth Harbour - went to a wedding reception there.

I held my 50th at Hurst Castle, might be a bit big for the 20 of you but it is certainly boaty and v. atmospheric. They are happy for you to do your own catering/ booze, etc. PM me, if interested

How about here

How about an evening on a Thames Barge? For example, you can charter Kitty, which is based at Port Solent, either for a static party or a sail. (I have no connection with her owners, and info is courtesy of Mr Google, so I've no idea what she's like).

I was going to suggest an excursion on Velsheda - sometimes to be seen at Ocean Village - but I suspect that would blow your budget if, indeed, she is ever chartered.

We had a great stag/hen party (day time event the evening was strictly boys only)
we hired a whole fleet of Illusions the little sit in yachts on a lake near Chichester and had a days one design racing, good thing was that as you cant capsize them even a complete non sailor could get to grips with them. If you havn't tried them you should, steer with your feet and play with the ropes, and the bilge pump squirts water at your opponents if they try to cover you!

You could hire the Island Sailing Club Sonars for a mini regatta and then have a party in the roof-top marquee there. Also the Royal Corinthian YC is a good place for a party.
