Hello
I have recently stumbled across a pretty nackered outboard motor made by the British Motorboat Manufacturing Company.

Its a horizontal twin.
The carburettor is missing - does anyone know if any other motors use the same carb?

I wouldn't mind trying get it going if I can get a carb for it - otherwise the power head is coming off and I'm putting a 36v scooter motor on it as it is an ideal candidate for conversion having a large prop and a decent size anti ventilation plate.

Seagulls use Amal or Bing I believe. The former werre also used on many British bikes of the 50s and 60s and can often be found on eBay or at classic bike shows. I'd have thought that one of these off a similar sized bike engine would be suitable. The Amal on my Seagull doesn't seem to be 'marinised' in any way.

Thanks for the suggestions
I wondered about old lawnmowers as well. The motor is not where I am at the moment but when I am beside it I will get a photo of it - there is a bit attached to the end of the throttle cable which is similar to the seagull but the actual carb body is missing. Other than that it looks complete although the power head is seized.

VicS is very knowledgeable on outboards so he could probably give good advice but he's probably having his Easter Sunday roast at the moment.

Yes indeed. Son and partner, who are veggies, were here so my pork to roast along with a quiche for them and tin full of potatoes and parsnips to roast.
A steamer full of green vegetables and my largest frying pan full of sliced mushrooms.

Apple and blackberry crumble with custard followed.

No sorry cant help with the outboard
