Elsewhere, on here, some weeks ago I commented on how this company was offering SC series Admiralty chart folios at very reasonable prices.

I ordered one such folio on Boxing Day, since when I have only managed to raise them by telephone once, and I've never received a reply to several e-mail requests, first for an update and more recently to cancel this still outstanding order which, since early January the status of which has been "In Packing"

I thought forumites would like to know of my experience of these people :-

Excellent! I think there should be a forum just for this subject. The number of so called specialists in the boating / yachting industry who think that they can take us for a ride astounds me. Two years ago I spent a small fortune preparing my boat for a six month trip away. This trip turned out to be only four months long due to the delays caused by ******* idiots who didn't have a clue what they were doing but still wanted paying for it! One such company caused a lot of damage to my boat , wanted paying in full, didn't return my telephone calls or E-mails and didn't even appologise or offer to pay for the damage. However, when I named his company on the forum last week I got an E-mail from him to ask who I was and what did I think I was doing rubbishing his company on the forum! If anyone reading this would like to know who the company is and what damage they did to my boat then please contact me for more details. I am now going to have a beer....rant over. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
 
Have you checked whether the folio you've ordered is actually available yet?

The SC folios are reprinted every year, and I think some are not reprinted until March or April so it may be that no one could supply that item.

Still no excuse for not keeping you informed.
 
I've ordered elsewhere, so I will post an update BUT

Whatever the situation it doesn't prevent them from answering their telephones, during the hours they list that they are available( all one gets is an answerphone message, first in Dutch,then English telling the world of their hours for telpehone answering!!) nor does it prevent them from replying to numerous e-mails, having invited the public on their website to contact them in that manner too. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

[/ QUOTE ]Not really. We all know that even the best of companies goof sometimes and there will be occasional dissatisfied customers. No harm in posting here but most of us won't take too much notice until several people chime in with bad experiences of the same company.

Its very important not to get carried away by a rant that easily becomes libellous and so will have to be pulled, and uses language that actually undermines the credibility of the complainant. Also if the matter might result in legal action - raising it here will be prejudicial.
 
I also have ordered folios from these people and thus far have heard nothing since receiving an e-mail acknowledging receipt of my order. Order placed on 05/03/2008.

Keep your fingers crossed.

Absolutely amazing a package arrived this morning without a word of explanation SC5607, 6 edition.

They've completely ignored my last e-mail which cancelled the order and I reckon the aggravation of getting the item returned and refunded is simply not worth the bother, so I shall sell the folio, or its replacement at, I hope, a break even price.

I expect there will be those who will not understand me, but nevertheless I shall not buy from this outfit again even at such good prices. Totally unacceptable attitude

Early March order to end of March delivery OK but
Boxing Day order and end of March delivery, with only a deafening silence in between and no effective way of contacting them, doesn't do it for me at any price.

I'm glad you're sorted though- or will be soon /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
 
Certainly the speed of service falls far short of that which most achieve. There could be some truth in the idea that they were awaiting newly published stock, but it would be good if that fact were communicated to the customer.
I am ultimately nevertheless pleased that I wasn't the victim of a scam.
