So lets say I just happen to be cruising my boat down the Thames on the same day and in the same direction as as the jubilee pagent and that I just happen to meet up with rear of the Flotilla...Do you think I be allowed to tag along with the rest of the boats?
Or would the River cops tell me to sling my hook?

Honestly , security is so tight for this it's unreal.

Look at it this way , imagine if you had a great big bomb in your boat and you 'tagged along' and blew up the houses of parliament ..... how would that look ?

Couple of boats from my neck of the woods have headed down just to watch. As TL said, they won't get far. Can't honestly believe they expected to just pitch up.

unofficial boats

there were two boats that did join in at the back of the recreational squadron.
I radioed the organiser to report them.
it took several minutes before a supporting security boat evicted them.
I was amased on how long it took them to realise there was another boat after they got rid of the first.
where did they come from?
how did they manage to evade the security?
good job we had a special flag issued just before the start which highlighted any intruder.
this could have turned out quite different if they had bad intentions.

You must try the CMBA website. There is a wealth of information built up there on the Forum. As one of the inaugral members with my Arcangeli on Fritton Lake in the late 90's the club has gone from strength to strength. Many of the boats initially were Albatroses and Healeys but the wooden boats have now come to the fore and there really are some beauties with experties to match. Plug over.:)

Still lovely. Mine, however, IS a bashed up ski boat. She gave me an entertaining buzz yesterday when I tried to moor at the Swan between two little ships... and the outboard chose to go full throttle. Ooops.
