Universal Joint For Tablet Holder

Does anyone know where I can get a universal joint for my Android tablet (Navionics Plotter) holder?



The one I have from a car mobile phone bracket (see the bad photo) is not strong enough.
It needs to be adjustable so that I can change the orientation of the plotter depending on whether I am going north/south, or east/west.

I have purchased a scanstrut mount from cactus. It is very strong and easily adjustable, it is however quiet expensive.

Why not just change the view on the plotter to be head up rather than north up?
