The bow thruster on a boat that I bought wasn’t working, so I’ve removed it and cleaned up the motors and replaced the seized solenoids so now onto the gearbox.

I can’t identify the manufacturer or model, but I’m guessing at as early Quick unit as everything else on the boat is by Quick. - She is a 2003 boat.

Can anyone guide me on stripping the gear box as I have removed the two Allen screws and pulled on the output shaft flange, but it cocks to one side and jams like I’ve missed something. I’m guessing that it’s just an o ring in there holding it back, so should I be brave and wind the puller on harder, or will something break?

You don’t say the make of vessel from 2003 but if a popular brand you might like to the owners website for advice as well. That might give info on make of bowthruster unit but if it on a Bav ,Jen etc I’m sure loads of owners about. Clearly if you have a 2003 Hanse for example you might find other Hanse owners-I know Hanse used Quick and while it’s not an Italian brand favoured by many for windlass our windlass on a moody is Quick but the bowthruster isn’t.
