Pic on trailer is April 19th, just before lift-in, with two coats of A/F from different manufacturers (I know, I was in a hurry) on the hull. Picture on drying mooring is today, very uneven wear. Is it something to worry about or just ensure using only one manufacturer next year!

I know there are some anti fouls that don't mix but your photo just looks like significant patch wear and might be due to too few coats of AF if you only had 2 from scratch and heavy use. I would pick whichever of the two you used the most and stick with it for another 2 coats after a good powerhose and scrub. AF is supposed to fall off anyway so worst case scenario is that you have to give it a scrape in a few years. IMO

What a waste of time and money!

Differant makes of Antifoul's do not mix, that's why you use a barrier coat like Primocon if in doubt.

Hard to tell from those pictures if those white patches are the original gel coat and depends on how you value your boat, if it is the original gel coat showing sorry I would want her 'OUT' and do it properly.

I am not an expert but would totally disagree. A/F tends to go a lighter shade when it has been in the water for a while. Obviously the different types fade to different degree. Just ignore the different shades. You can use just one type for all the boat next time. In the meantime if there are any real problems like incompatability then they will show up in their own time. Just go sailing olewill

I am afraid you are wrong my friend, while all antifoul of coarse changes colour when immersed in water you will find if you talk to any antifoul paint manufacturer they will tell you due to the differant consistency’s that each use you should not mix one manufacturers with another.

I'd say that whether it was a waste of money or not should be judged by how much is growing on the boat, which seems to be practically nothing.

Edit
Oops, didn't read it properly, I thought that was after a year, not a few weeks!

But they would say that wouldn't they. I was aware that some antifouls react together with bad results but I don't think disastrous. At the end of the day most are made to slowly wear aways so it is no big deal. Give it a powerhose, a bit of a scrub and paint it with one type all over. I use hempels cruising performer which so far has only left very light fouling after a few seasons but of course your needs could be different. I bought mine from 'boatpaint.co.uk' which was efficient and cheap.

Interesting your comments and results on using Hempels Cruising antifoul.

I normally stay 'in' for min two years and have used International Micron Extra (£79.95 for only 2.5 Litre) for years and have been very pleased with it, BUT even shopping around on line their prices have just gone too much for me, after a bit of research and listening to recommendations I changed over to Jotun Paints and currently have their Seaqueen (£78.95 for 5 Litre) antifoul ontop of their Vinyguard silver 88 primer (£24.95 for 5 litre) http://www.smlmarinepaints.co.uk/antifouling (who I must say are very helpfull) so far I am also pleased with the results of the Jotun.

However what I have found is talking to members of the Colvic Watson Owners Group many get better results with differant antifouls depending on the quality of the water where they keep their boats, like many things I think antifoul is not an exact science!!

PS I have no connections with Jotun or SML

I see you too have made a small error in painting your boot topping; when you come to repaint the boat next time you will have a problem masking of to either antifoul or paint the trimlines. Leaving just a 1" gap between the two areas makes the job so much simpler to paint either and mask off the other to be painted second.
I've mixed antifouls like you,but don't care what the colours are like below about 3 ft depth and no real problems. I don't find any that are exceptional in durability or preventing fouling, but all are expensive in any case.
I'm scrubbing off tomorrow, using the cheaper Seajet Cruising this time.
