I want to disassemble some wooden parts that are screwed and glued using Cascamite. Is Cascamite susceptible to anything such as heat or solvents - it is doing it's job too well...
I used Cascamite in my workshop for many years, there is to the best of my knowledge no way of parting Cascamited joints, without damaging the wood. Perhaps you should contact the makers and ask for thier advice. Sorry not to have been more help, but I would guess if there is a way someone on this forum will know.

Cascamite's failing is doing its job too well! I don't think heat or solvents will have any effect. istr Cascamite isn't designed for long term exposure to water but it manages pretty well even if this is so. The only way I have seen cascamite lose its grip without persuasion is by soaking the parts so long that the wood expands and splits the join. On a complex joint like a teak grating it certainly can work but no promises. (lots of forces in opposing directions?).
Or you can soak to soften things and break it but risk damage, or just cut down the joint with a fine saw which would require some accuracy.
