Sooo… Today, after finding a fix for a last minute unexpected issue with the sounder, myself and swmbo decided that by hook or by crook, it was time to bring the new to us boat to her future home in CF.

We left the NE coast of Italy late in the afternoon, and reached Novigrad in Croatia at dusk.
In fact, I'm anchored in the bay right in front of the (rather pretty) village while posting this, after a celebration dinner with some fish and wine (which ain't exactly easy to find in HR - not a decent one, anyway) sourced before leaving! :very_drunk:
It's in these occasions that you don't regret burning much more fuel than you were used to, when you can keep effortlessly a cruising speed which is just about triple than D speed...

Anyway, this is meant just as an initial post to get the ball rolling.
Sorry if I don't have any nice pics to publish yet, but hopefully, all going well, I'll be able to post something nicer than troubles with Raymarine components in the next weeks....
Stay tuned! :)

I'm looking forward to this cruise report, I hope it all goes well. :encouragement::cool:

Nice work P, good to see the cruise begin.
As a suggestion to this potentially epic cruise report :), could you include screen shots from the plotter or google map links so those not totally familiar with the intended area can understand more?

Thanks everybody for your wishes.
Ref. the following....

I'll do my best C, but tbh I don't want to raise expectations because, while the trip as such is indeed remarkable, it comes after a rather tough year for us. Therefore, the plan is to take it VERY easy and relaxing, without bothering too much about planning, making pics and videos, and so forth.
Btw, it's also a sort of "all in one" shakedown and delivery trip, with just myself and S for most of the time, so we are also taking it as an opportunity to understand how the new toy behaves.
I can at least promise some nice pics anyway, 'cause there are indeed several lovely spots along the route... :encouragement:

As a small appetizer, time being I can offer the following overview of the planned route.
It's easy to see also at first glance that it isn't made to make the trip as short as possible (it could be not much more than a thousand Nm, by doing so), but it's rather arranged to see several places - particularly in Croatia, but not only - where we have been many years ago and which we would like to see again.
Otoh, we are very flexible, and if we should suffer homesickness along the road (and/or our friends in CF will insist to reach them asap even more than they already are!), we might as well cut it a bit shorter, we'll see... :)

Sounds great looking Fwds to hearing about it , and your transition to P speeds.
It's actually more a return to the origins than a transition, but time being it doesn't look like I'll make a lot of miles at single digit speed.
The boat just seems much happier anywhere from 22 to 26kts.
And as we all know, boaters are actually driven by their toys, rather than the other way round...:D

Looks like a great summer ahead for you! Good that you can take your time, the long route looks wonderful. Our 2016 cruise from Falmouth to the Algarve could have been a very tiresome A to B to C trip, it turned out to a A to Z with detours - and of course all better for it....I’m sure there’ll be days that can be done at < d speed - will look forward to reading the thread.
ATB....

Thanks again folks for your support.
This evening I took the opportunity of a nice sunset to take a few pics before overnighting in this bay, imho the nicest in the whole Istrian peninsula.

I thought to post these as a first taste of how the Croatian coastline looks like, also because I might have a blackout in the next days, 'cause we are heading towards some small islands where more than likely the mobile coverage (hence data connection) will be pretty poor.

Let's start with an overview of the bay, facing East. Who needs zero speed stabs?
Btw, no prize for guessing which is the most popular type of boating in HR...

And this is instead the western side of the bay, with its postcard sunset.
18mm first, for an overview...

...and 75mm to grab a passing boat.

Last but not least, we also enjoyed a very nice light in the cockpit, FoC! :encouragement:

Brilliant, P, very nice pics! Good to see you finally get to enjoy your new purchase.

Seems you have a nice set of lenses there. Are those zoom or prime? Not wishing to put any pressure on your well deserved easy cruise but I will be following this thread closely :).

All the best with the trip.

That's gorgeous, love Croatia. Beautiful :)

Very much interested especially with the Croatian part of the trip. Wishing you a peaceful and nice trip!

Finally P! I know Novigrad quite well because thats where we picked up our Ferretti 53 from the dealer there (Menn Yachts). It is indeed a pleasant spot. I also know that anchorage which is excellent and IIRC one of the few anchorages in Croatia with a mud bottom and thus very good holding. With regard to mobile coverage, we found it pretty good all the way down the Croatian coast so no excuse for not posting!
