Took advantage of Mighty Atoms short mast and had a sail up the Taff. Had about 6 ft spare i think so dont try it with a bigger boat :-)

Handy pontoon outside Channelview leisure center for a lunch stop.

Last time I tried to sail into the Taff was a good few years ago on the ebb I mistook the porthand buoy for going up the drain into cardiff thinking I had to leave it to port going into the Taff I spent the rest of the day in the mud waiting for the tide.

We went under there too but had to heel over.......then the wind dropped so were stuck on the wrong side! I assume you ate on board? There are no good restaurants there.

Did you get Bonny under there?I am suprised, its hard to tell as you look up ,even going under the Severn Bridge it looks like you will lose your VHF aereial as you approach it :-).

As you say theres nothing much there just the novelty of going somewhere that was inaccessible to us before. I was more than happy chilled out on board with some sarnies and a flask.

No, we took the Fireball. I know what you mean about the severn bridge.

That explains it,I had a mental picture of some of the CBYC cruising team hanging off Bonny's shrouds to get her to heel under the bridge.

No names no pack drill as they say :-)
