I have never had any problem. Have bought festoon LED's on a couple of occasions to supplement incandescent bulbs in the cabin. This was to provide low level, low-draw lighting backed up by switchable normal bulbs.
Good delivery and prices are reasonable.
The jury is out on use for navigation.
Make sure if purchasing that they have a built-in voltage regulator as I seem to recollect from previous posts (probably on PBO) that if subjected to increased voltage (say when connected through a charger on shorepower) they actually burn out quite quickly.
A search on here and PBO will probably give a better explanation.
The problem with LEDs looking too white is that they are just that - white. Incandescant lamps are biassed towards orange with tubes less so. Our eyes/brain think they ar white though. So when we see LEDs we think they are too white or blueish.
Try using yellow tinted sunglasses in snow. After a while we forget everything is yellow cos snow is white. We all know that. Now take the glasses off and the snow's a very strange colour for a few seconds until our brains catch up.
Ultra LEDS offer a good service. Remember that the lamps, being diodes, are polarised unlike a normal incandescent. This is OK with festoon lamps because you can turn them round in the holder. However this may be a problem with bayonnet fittings where you may need to reverse the wiring in the fixture to get them to light.
The UltraLeds supplied lights I have can be connected either way round. They have a small voltage regulator in them, and obviously some circuitry for detecting polarity. They may not all be like this, but all mine are.
Service has been good. They answer the phone and talk sense. Sometimes they have supply problems because of high demand, but have always been straight with me, and everything I have bought still works.
