Can anybody please help me to locate a magazine article describing a cruise from Essex to Holland in ‘Uldra’ in the late 1920s? ‘Uldra’ was the boat in which Geoff Owen and Dennis Puleston sailed to Tortola in 1931, as described in Puleston’s book “Blue Water Vagabond”.
My father used to sail with Geoff Owen, and I have photos from their 1928 voyage to Holland in ‘Uldra’. I believe they may have made an earlier crossing in Owen’s much smaller boat ‘Nos Reves’ (approx 18ft).
In a letter dated November 1938, Geoff Owen wrote “…if you happen to see the November issue of American ‘Yachting’ magazine you’ll find under the heading ‘Sails and sabots’ an article about our cruise to Holland in Uldra some years back”.
I should very much like to find a copy of that article, and am hoping somebody on this forum may know of a UK library that hold magazines from that era.
