One of my friends bought a boat at auction from customs (sealed bid I think) after it had been caught smuggling he never did finish putting it back together , it took 4 years to get it ready to sleep on, eventually it was stolen by joy riders who broke down within 2 miles.

Apparently it was shipped over from the Caribbean, looks a nice piece of kit, BBC World say worth £1 million...

In my quest for a boat a year ago I looked over a Regal 2565. Looked a nice boat but just didn't feel right.
Whilst looking over the boat I found some paperwork from the previous owner from the USA. After a google search on his name and address a local paper reported he was in jail for smuggling.

Seems like the goods were hidden behind a metal panel in the engine bay towards the swimming platform.

Not a lot of evidence of any "deap search" except the removed plotter and bathroom mirror. I guess they have to consider the case where nothing is found and they have to compensate for damage done during the search... still, 6 days to find it???
