Due to my co-skipper's health problems, I am urgently looking for a hand or two sailing my 46' ketch from Dover to Brighton (and possibly beyond) as soon as possible.

The boat is newly refitted and fully equipped for ocean passages.

Considering its winter, you should be flexible regarding weekday or weekend travel whilst waiting for favourable weather conditions. You will need you own foul-weather gear, although I do have sufficient life-vests and belts.

Looking forward to hear from you,

Phil

This Saturday and Sunday look OK for both wind direction and speed. Monday looks bad with average of F8 and gusts of 65-70 knots.

Let me know if you need crew.

Thanks, you got a pm..
I could get to Dover for around 09:10 (British Rail) or possibly come down Friday night if you've got a spare berth for the night.
I've sent you my various contact details via PM.
I'll need to know rather quickly if tomorrow night's the preferred option.
Yes, I have full foul-weather kit.

I feel really bad as I agreed to crew for Saturday/Sunday and then within the hour (last night) twisted my ankle and really can't risk it even after resting it today. All I can say is Phil has his sailing plan sorted and is willing to be flexible providing the weather holds. I'm feeling really embarrassed as I gave a commitment, so if anyone else can help Phil with his trip from Dover to Brighton, then I'd feel a bit better. :(

Some feedback - forumite Colin (ringspanner) fortuitously came forth at the last minute. Colin did a watch whilst I was recovering from the traditional Friday hangover, was always alert & on the lookout for lobster pots and landmarks, and is generally excellent company. Had a long leisurely cruise down under motor mostly with a bit of a sail towards the end, followed by the mandatory docking ales in brighton.

Simon (Phideaux) - will keep in touch for next opportunity.
