UK Data Sim with highest roaming data usage per month

Currently have a 50GB vodafone data sim, pre all the changes with data roaming, which did not used to matter in Europe.

Am sure there must be better options BUT do need at least 50GB roaming chucked in. Has to be UK SIM so TV works same as UK (Sky, BBC iPlayer, etc). Current contract is around £65pm.

I've not found anything with roaming allowance over 25gb. We use a local SIM and Amazon Firesticks in the TVs with Nord VPN running so we can choose where we get our TV / streaming from, inc UK, USA etc without relying on the SIM

I am using a Holafly e sim bought in France. Unlimited data (allegedly throttled after 3gb a day but not noticed this so far - 2 months). It doesnt allow hotspotting but I get round this by outputting hard wired from my iPhone to the tv using the apple camera connection dongle. Works fine for bbc (except just one day when I could get neither BBC tv nor radio) Netflix, Amazon, but ITVX has the measure of it - a slight pain for Tour de France but pics are on free French tv and I run the ITVX coverage on the phone to get English commentary, bluetoothed to a tv speaker.

So not perfect but great for cricket highlights, Glastonbury, box sets, movies etc, and only about £43 a month for a two month deal, less if you buy longer.

Have Express VPN spoofing uk for Wi-Fi but not sure these work for mobile data - certainly doesn’t fool NOW TV so TMS only for live Ashes.

Same here - I can't find a UK deal with more than 25GB when roaming.
I believe that O2 used to have a package but I don't think it is available now.
Like Mark, I now use a local Spanish deal - called Lobster - see lobster.es
Then NordVPN works to to get UK TV where necessary.
As Markc says, NordVPN works on a Firestick but I tend to use the PC - Nord have an addon for Firefox which works well.
I found the Firestick a bit flakey.

The local Spanish Lobster deal is interesting - when you run out of data, you simply buy another month and the new month starts at that time.
You can also freeze your data so if you still have some of the month left (or some of your data left) when leaving the boat, you can freeze it and unfreeze it when you return.
Normally10 euros buys 25Gb but for a new connection this summer 25 euros buys a whopping 240Gb (limited deal though).

If the OP's system needs a deal that "thinks" it is in the UK, I suggest that he installs a router with VPN software (NordVPN inside a router for example).
I'm sure that a Raspberry Pi could be made to do the job.
I have a more sophisticated x86 router on our boat doing a similar job.
Then any local 4G/SIM deal would do.
Once set up, any device (Smart TV, phone or tablet etc) connected to the router would work as though it was in the UK.

Ahh - I missed that the boat is in Mallorca - have a good look at lobster.es - and my last post
We cruised over to Mallorca a couple of weeks ago for 10 days - Lobster worked fine - even 12 miles off shore

I've actually got two Lobster connections on the boat - using them right now.
Both are fitted into routers and I switch between them.

Yep - but all UK deals (including Vodafone) limit you to 25Gb per month when roaming.
No notice - at the point of 25Gb, Vodafone simply cuts you off - don't ask how I know!!
Vodafone are the worst company that I have ever dealt with.

And in the case of Vodafone, their fair use policy limits continuous overseas use to 2 months.

my vodafone contract is quite old, think 7 years, and was when data roaming wasnt an issue. I expect it has also caused me issues. Only reason I havent changed it is due to the roaming but I expect they have imposed limits on it at some point

Yep - I was with Vodafone for a long time - then they screwed me.

finding out what MIFI router comes with the boat and can then either enable VPN software on that or install another intermediary

IMHO, I wouldn't use a MiFi - I just get a proper 4G router and use that.
Most routers use faster software features that simple MiFis.
The other advantage is, with careful selection, you could install a VPN inside that router.
However, I would probably make it a 2 stage set up and have a dedicated VPN router that could then connect to ANY internet connection anywhere.
Lots of options out there.
All of which can be paid for out of your saving from not paying Vodafone!!

Sorry - I think I was conflating posts. I was trying to understand how in a mobile network a VPN can convince eg the tv company that the end user is in the UK, while at the same time letting the mobile data supplier know that the sim is in fact where it says it is. This is based on my profound lack of understanding about how these things work, not doubting that it does.
