Now I know that I will have to have my tongue cut out for repeating this but here goes.
The other day as I steamed along thinking of nothing very much and listening to Ch 16, up popped a female radio operator from an American warship indicating that the warship was about to do something in respect of which it would be a good idea to keep out of its way.
Initially I panicked. My guilty conscience led me to think that the comments were directed at me and my first thought was that with a max speed of 16 knots at my disposal I was going to end up as a statistic.
A thorough scan of the radar and real horizons calmed my beating heart and I began to laugh out loud when, after the third repitition, Solent CG laconically advised the warship to take its jibber jabber onto a working channel, followed by a male radio op on the warship inviting his interlocutor to join him on Ch 22.
