Ugly Boat or Cute Rib?

Saw this last weekend in St. Peter Port. As it came in we thought, "Hey that looks like a large JetSki!"

It wasn't... but turned out to be a Rib type with an unusual moulded GRP cabin at about 225-28 feet long.

Quite weird looking really but I wonder if anyone knows what it is and do you think it's ugly or stylishly cute?

Sorry about the phone snaps and it was very overcast on Sunday.

I saw something similar at Lymington. Personally I cant get excited about ribs, althought people seem to have lots of fun with them. I would have thought if you wanted a cabin you would have a full boat.

Clever design I guess, but ribs do seem very expensive and I cant see how they can hold their price over say 15 years compared to a mobo.

Well done chaps, I hadn't seen one before. It would appear that this one was the 7.3 Sky Deck.

Not for me I'm afraid, the Absolute 45 still has it beat! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

So when are we gonna hear more about the 41 HT then?

I have to say, and I've been completely beaten in a straight line race going flat out by one /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Thats because its ugliness repelled it from whatever was behind it, adding to its speed.

I Fitted the electronics / Nav gear to this Zar

I have to say on first appearances she does have a somewhat controversial shape!

However she is very well built & appointed with shower, heads, holding tank, cooker, fridge etc, comfortable over night accommodation

with its 250 HP Yanmar she flies along with a very comfortable and dry ride

my job of fitting Radar etc was so simple as there are access panels everywhere

IMHO a very practical and fun boat! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Ok, so the styling is unique but, as Black Pearl kindly mentions, it is a clever little boat and does go really well on the water. Ideal for Solent chop or Channel Islands, as in this case.

We will have one at SIBS on stand C040 (outside Holiday Inn) along with the smaller 5.7 and 5.3. All welcome to come and have a good look. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Eh, what's this market research? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Comes in two versions, "Concept" which is entry level and "Limited" with all bits and bobs like radar arch, electric windlass, bimini, flexiteak etc.

Available with Merc or Volvo petrol at £52,000 inc. VAT for Concept and £57,000 for Limited, or with FNM 250 HP Diesel at £64,000 for Concept and £69,000 for Limited.

Will definitely appeal to the 3 series BMW Convertable crowd...but the Audi drivers will keep well clear.

I am sure it is a thing of purpose, and has 'unique' styling but it just limits the Market here in blighty.

Cheers

Diesel version does about 37 knots - not radical but pretty acceptable for a little cruiser. Point is though the hull is so sharp it just keeps pushing on through.

Might be an outboard version for next season too which would really shift with a big unit.
