What do peeps do to cover backs of instruments down below ?
I.e compass Sounder etc. Would use pictures but the poke out.
Thnks

Most people would mount them on a panel that is basically a cupboard door (it may not be hinged) - so the "gubbings" are in the cupboard....

What are you doing?

another +1
or, if they are bulkhead mounted then make a box to house them with inspection cover on the back side of the bulkhead or flush mount the instruments and box over the gubbins behind.

is gubbins gubbins or gubbings???

I assume these are cockpit instruments mounted through the bulkhead at the front of the cockpit so that the backs are in the cabin.

As Dougal says, a sort of flattish wooden box is the normal solution.

(I write it as gubbins)

Big tupperware style box. Cut hole in lid, fix round instrument backs, clip box on. Cheap, not very cheerful but OK for scruffy old fishing boats. One chap with not much room in the wheelhouse had his chart on a roller blind.

Tidy way is to box it all in with an access door. Nothing will get snagged or accidentally disconnected, shorted out, etc...

Seen the things PVB pointed out used but if you have more than a few instruments you end up with cables still linking everything together so they are then looking untidy.

Nice teak box held in place with Velcro.
Elegant and invisible fixing.

I love the roller blind idea. If I had that at home in the kitchen I might wash up!
