Can anyone recommend a supplier of galvanized or plain Mild Steel U-bolts to go round the outside the following rectangular section 70 by 180mm in something like an 6 to 10mm shank, I have goggled and searched the forum in vain so far. I am looking for 8 bolts and plates to go with the modifications I am doing on our trailer. All help gratefully received.

I got some U bolts + plates for my trailer from a small company in Staines which made trailers. Unfortunately they closed last year .... but why not try a trailer manufacturer near where you live ... like Hayling Trailers?

Alternatively, some caravan/camping supply shops sell trailer spares. I have used:

Towbar & Trailer Equipment
44, Camp Rd, Farnborough, Hampshire GU14 6EP Tel: 01252 540319

But I expect there will be a similar shop nearer you.

Just a suggestion... why not buy a length of screwed rod(studding),nuts and washers and make them up yourself?

Or better still made from round steel bar just threaded on the ends where needed. It would have to be heated to bend it. Perhaps a local blacksmith could help.

If its galvanized or mild you want ... whats wrong with local DIY shop ................

or local trailer shop ?? Hayling Trailers if Hampshire etc.

How strong do these need to be? If they're not critical, get some "black" bar and just bend it. You'll easily be able to bend 8mm through a right angle "cold" in a vice. You could do 10mm cold but it probably won't look too neat. The only trouble is that mild "black" bar won't be anything like as strong as a proper "U" bolt so if its strength you're looking for, get a proper one (as has been suggested) from a trailer manufacturer.

Thankyou for all the suggestions, After speaking to Hayling trailers and others I decided to buy some Threaded bar, nuts and Ubolt straps plates route. Plates avalible from Hayling trailers the rest from Screw fix.
