With the Winter months apparently coming to an end, I start looking at the weather for to plan a trip from the South West to the Solent. And I find two developments.

I see that the MetOffice is stopping its MetWeb service, which I've used for some time because I thought the services were great, especially the animated surface pressure chart and the 2 to 5 day planning forecasts. What other sites would you recommend for a replacement service?

The other thing I see is that the forecasts don't mention sea state. Did I miss something? Have they stopped giving sea state forecasts?

If I'm being dense, then I blame it on the long Winter break dulling the brain.

You might want to try out my weather website. Has all the aforementioned links so you can compare forecasts.

http://www.stronge.org.uk

Also if you have a laptop onboard you can download the unlimited demo of Raytech Navigator and use the GRIB data download free daily email subscription from my website. Only 20Kb a day for all UK wind forecasts out to 6 days ahead.

Good cruising
