Just moved to Poole harbour so need to find my way around..

Q1 : Where is there Petrol available in Poole Harbour?

Q2 : Of the places in Q1 where is the cheapest?

Thanks..

The only two places I an think of are, Salterns Marina and MDL Cobbs Quay. Not sure of prices but would expect Cobbs Quay to be lowest, but you have to negotiate the two bridges to get there.

Last time I looked at Cobbs prices, I think petrol was about £1.35 per litre. Will be back there tomorrow so will have a look.

As an MDL berth holder I pay £0.99 per litre for diesel at the moment.

Parkstone Bay marina (between Salterns and Poole) and Ridgewharf Yacht Center (on the Frome River on the way to Wareham) also do Petrol.

99p/lt sounds a bigger saving than I imagined.Any idea what the saving is on no berth holders price ?

thanks
Tim

Parkstone Bay Marina is right by Parkstone Bay Yacht club and the fuel pontoon is right ahead of you as you enter their channel but it is properly shallow there. You'll need at least 1m of tide to make sure you're properly safe and trim your leg up. Petrol there isn't cheap. From memory it's about £1.60 or £1.70 per litre.

You can get into Cobbs at any tide but make sure you follow the buoys as if you miss the dogleg, you'll ground out. At lower tides a small MoBo should be able to get under the bridges OK as long as you drop your antenna and don't have a radar arch. 99p for petrol sounds cheap (sounds like the 60:40 diesel price for berth holders to me) but I never bought petrol there so I shouldn't really comment.

Salterns has a petrol pump and is accessible at all tides. It's also very convenient as it's right in the middle of the harbour. It's very expensive there though - normally a few pence more than Parkstone Bay.

Have fun in Poole. I used to berth at Parkstone Bay and it's great cruising ground.
