two part wood glue - what\'s in a name?

I have to do a repair on a tiller - a bit of scarfeing. Some years ago I did a similar job with a brown, two part wood glue which came as two sort of molten chocolatey liquids in tubs. It was brilliant, being both moisture and uv proof and as I remember was recommended by a shipwright who used it for - among other things - scarfes in sitka masts. But what the hell is it called and who makes it? Middle aged memory has let me down.

Oh God, I know what you mean about middle-aged memory!! I'm not sure of the name but know exactly what stuff you mean - was it Resourcinal or summin' like that?

Fantastic stuff and still available but being overtaken by epoxies these days it seems. Built my first runabout with the stuff back in 1970!!

Cheers Jerry

Resorcinol Formaldehyde is a lot better than Urea Formaldehyde (Aerolite). It does have the disadvantage of the dark colour. Epoxy, e.g. WEST, is at least as strong and virtually colourless.

Yeah, I got that Chris, which is why I was after the aerodux... it is resorcinol and leaves a thin brown glueline, almost invisible on laminated wood. After a few phone calls I decided it was such a PITA to source I gave up and am using epoxy!
