Two good things about Scottish pubs

the piano is still in the scotia, up the back, still get the folikies in just playing away on the house instruments.

did you ever notice the floor in there? I was always told that it sloped down towards the bar to mimick the hull if a ship! in reality probably designed to let the slops drain to the bar

Remember the Howf very well. The clientel in the the Scotia are still wearing Aran knits.....probably even the same ones!

Preferred the Dial Inn myself for the live music - across the road from the Odeon.

When the Howf died away, and also Burns Cottage at Paisley Road Toll, then the Dial Inn became the place. Didn't know it was still popular.
I will probably be up in Glasgow in late Sept. early Oct, for a curry and a pint. Oh and to visit my old man and bruv. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
Also maybe down to Troon to do Dazed Kipper practical, Unless I have tied up boat purchase, in which case I may be in the US dodging hurricanes trying to get the boat from Misi...Missisi..the GOM to the Chesapeake for the winter, prior to coming across next year to the med.

That was a good place. We used to go to what was then the Doune Castle at Shawlands for live bands as well, although that could get a bit rough at times.

Dammit, I was trying to remember that name all morning. Oh, and also The Kind Man on Pollokshaws Road used to have live bands too.
