"Margrave of the Marshes" - John & Sheila Peel and "The Whispering Years" by Bob Harris.
Both reflect the natures of their authors (although John Peel only completed about one third before his untimely death) - droll observation and a passion for music from Peel, earnest comment and a passion for music from Bob Harris. Both contain frank discussions about personal issues - a homosexual encounter whilst at public school for Peel, and the rather chequered romantic life of Whispering Bob. Above all, both give an insight into the chaotic, exciting, and manipulative world of rock broadcasting.
Recommended - or should I say, "Far out, man"...
