Aldi have a battery-operated collapsible all-round white lamp at £3.99. With some plastic baggery added for waterproofing, it might make a good anchor light. A back-up one at least.
B&Q are selling orange builder's style buckets for a pound each. No they're not very strong, and yes, the handle will come off if you try and fill it while sailing at five knots, but for general purpose cleaning etc. they look fine.

Haven't they always done that?

Until very recently, they used to provide them at the entrance for use as shopping baskets, and then ask at the checkout if you wanted the bucket as well as the goods in it.

Possibly. I've never noticed them before.

While the bucket might suit the southern softies it isn't much good up north. When the temperature drops to around freezing the plastic shatters with very little encouragement.

My on-board bucket store is heated by a small portable nuclear reactor (£4.99 Lidl), but failing that, surely a couple of tea lights would do the trick?
