Just looking at the gorgeous Hawana (RM800) in another thread made me wonder..

Has anyone produced a twin keel sailing yacht with a hydrofoil between the keels?

What effects might it have on sailing characteristics (besides preventing the keels from splaying when taking the ground)?

Any thoughts? Anyone know?

Never seen one but the notion of a Westerly Centaur on a reach rising up out of the sea like a ghost from the deep is a delightful mental picture.

Re: Twin Keel Hydrofoil Westerly Centaur

Well technically such a beast would I suppose be renamed Westerly Pegasus

Hydrofoil between two hulls is a fairly common concept on planing catamaran power boats. Hysucat rib for example. The concept is used on much larger powercats than this. Popular in south africa.
