Hi there

I have a 36 ft sunseeker san remo with two kad 42 engines and trim tabs (tabs don't work one is up one is down slightly , We have noticed we are listing a lot when on plane to port we have had the boat for a year and this is a recent thing. I am thinking that the jammed up tabs might be the problem however would it be possible to counter it out by running the trims on the engine at slightly different levels to counter balance out . I know that weight distribution on the boat can play a part also just wondered if any one else has had this issue and how they resolved the issue.

thanking you in advance for your responses

regards

Danny

Just fix the tabs, you want them working as wind, sea state and weight dist etc will differ from one day to another.

I had the same problem and built an outrigger on the side of my princess V45
2 lengths of scaffold tube cut to aesthetically suit, and an old 2 man canoe filled to the brim with expandable foam installed on the listing side and problem fixed.
Make sure you install it mid ship as I made the mistake of installing it close to the stern and it didn't look so good.

What a ridiculous question....

Well that won't help people who will think twice about asking advice if they think they will be ridiculed for asking. Obviously some of us are not blessed with your wealth of experience and bounteous knowledge.

I applaud anyone for asking about something to do with their boat or its handling...a sensible answer might prevent them from running into my own boat at some point...

I have no bounteous knowledge or a wealth of experience just a little 'common sense' which comes in handy if you have a boat cause you can't just step off if you have a problem or two.
I meant no harm or distress to the OP but to be honest the question is ridiculous...fix the tabs then see if the problem goes away, if not then ask away and get genuine advice.

...and your original response contributes/helps in what way, other than to discourage people from asking questions? (apart from allowing readers to form an opinion of your personality?)

BTW my question is purely rhetorical as I've put you on my ignore list.

Well thanks for your replies and i wont be put off from being ridiculed or judged but dont take offence from your opinion crazy4557man. However perhaps i have not written the question clearly in the first instant, as I know the issue is with the tabs but was merely asking advice if i could counter balance with trimming the engines (as a short term solution prior to fixing the problem)

as another member of the forum kindly pointed playing about with the engine trims wont work and to get the tabs done which answers my question which i would like to thank you.

What is ridiculous in asking for advice or help from a poole of knowledge (the forum) to educate myself in a solution

thanks

Welcome to the forum, don't be put off by Crazy4557man, the clue is in his id.

Let us know how you get on with the trim tabs. Of course trimming the drive legs will help with nose attitude, ride and speed but only worth playing with once your tabs are sorted. Are you able to manually pull the down tab into the up position until you can get the boat out of the water?
