Apparently satellite TV is to be severely reduced in the near future. Does anyone know of a suitable way of still receiving UK TV onaboat?

Film on is fantastic, all the freesat channels you get in the uk.
For all the latest movies, Prime wire is free and works well. http://www.primewire.fr/movies/top/all
NB. You will probably need to try several 'links' before you get a good streaming connection to your location, avoid HD as it eats bandwith. If you experience buffering just try a different link.

I have tried both and they are working very well. All I need now is some system to transfer from my small lap top to our TV - is this possible?

Have a look on the side of your laptop, you should see a port named HDMI, you will need a long hdmi cable to attach to the back of your tv, also marked HDMI. You select the correct channel on the flatscreen telly by going to mode, then HDMI, then ok......
