I'd like to do an extended Turk's Head on the top of the steering wheel. There a number of videos on YouTube showing this but they are hard to follow after the initial couple of turns. I wonder does anyone know of a good text based explanation or suggestions for an alternative knot to use.
Any thoughts or suggestions much appreciated.
Thanks

Why not try French Whipping? It is easy to do and lends itself well to long lengths as on the rim of a wheel. You can also finish off the ends with two simple Turk's Heads.

I'm not at all insisting on a long Turk's head, that's why I asked for alternative suggestions.. The French whipping looks attractive and doable, whereas the extended Turk's Head seems quite complicated to master.

Sennit.
Various kinds - French is one of the simpler.

Google is your friend, however there is a good knot book which touches on it more than in the passing. Des Pawson wrote it and as some git didn't give me mine back I will buy another one!

I do hope that you learned your lesson! A pipe, a pen or a book should never be lent. :D
