Hello all I have been out on my new to me Aqua star 48 this week, why in this
really cold spell, well its a new toy so got to play and great helming from below unlike my
old sailboat.So I am converted..

I have a pair of Volvo D9's which run very sweetly.I am trying to understand these engines.
The turbo boost when running at 2200rpm show a pressure on one engine as 140 and other at 150.
Is this an issue or normal on turbocharge engines??
Can you calibrated the instrument?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Regards Alan

Hi Alan, welcome to Aquastars - we have a 45, they're great boats! I would suggest that that sort of difference isn't significant. Mine run at slightly different pressures, although they're cats not volvos. No doubt someone vastly more knowledgable will be along to advise properly shortly! Have you thought of joining the Aquastar Owners Association? Very friendly and we had a great cruise with them around the Channel Islands last year, including a trip round the Aquastar factory to see the new 42 in build. West Country this year. PM me if you want the details. Gavin

Is that measurement kpa?

10 Kpa is about 1 psi so amounts to squat all difference. As boost is a characteristic of propeller demand and therefore engine loading, extremely unlikely that boost numbers will correlate.

Volvopaul will gude you through it but if you look at your % engine load display you will see motor with higher boost will have higher engine loading.

Good to hear you are enjoying the Aquastar 48.

They are a serious lump of a boat, just slow down in heavy and they will go through most things.
