Turbo boost pressure gauge

Does anyone have these ? Are they a worthwhile add on ?

Or would a temporary hook up for occasional use suffice.

As Volvo Penta state the expected Turbo boost pressures in the instruction manual, I would expect they provide an access port to connect to. Anyone know where and what the thread will be on a TAMD60C engine ?

I suspect the bottom is dirty and in particular the props are likely smothered in barnacles, which explains most of the 6-7 knot reduction in speed and appalling fuel consumption presently, but even clean I have never seen the engines reach much above 2,600 rpm, when at WOT I should achieve 2,800. They won't ever get here if the Turbos are lazy or tired out. One has been replaced at some point. If I can see the Turbo pressure at WOT and it is at the correct point on the curve for the achieved revs at least I know they are performing OK, in which case I may need to look at the injectors condition and possibly the max fuel stop position.

I would look at the simple things first. On the sea trail on our Azi, she only pulled 2200 revs and 22 kn. With a clean hull and props, and a couple of small dings on the stb prop fixed she flew to 29 kn and 2800 revs.

I have a pair permanently in place on the dash board, fitted to Kad 42's and whilst I don't glance at them as much as t's p's, it's reassuring to see that the compressors and turbo's are performing the way they should be.

I use mine all the time.
I was advised to set your cruise by them, and not to match up rpm, which will account for discrepencies in props, engines etc, so at least they are doing the same amount of work.
