Morning all.
I'm moving a HR40 from Malta to Ibiza next week and wondered if its worth a stop over in Tunis? Crew keen but I'm not sure if hassle factor outweighs any benefits.
Any comments gratefully received.
cheers

I wouldn't bother with Tunis but if you want to experience Tunisia stop off at Biserte as that's closer to your route and will provide a useful stop over if the wind and forecast between Cape Bon and Sicily is not in your favour. The marina should be ready to accept visitors now as it's been refurbished and the boss is Ahmed ex Yasmine Hammamet. He is likely to have re educated the port police and customs and encouraged them to regard baksheesh as a no no?
If you need fuel then Tunisia is the place to fill up.
Given the time you can always hire a car and drive to Tunis if you want.
We spent two winters as Yasmine and explored the country, before, during and after the uprising. A great place to visit!
Enjoy!

we just left tunisia after a 7 month stay and loved it -- but we were going to stop at bizerte and emailed them and they said it was not open - so i would check first -- tabarca is a good choice -- tunisia is a great country

A wonderful place with perhaps the very best Roman remains - trimiene harbour, amphitheatre, baths, theatres, coliseums in the world. Tunisia is a wonderful place that has worked hard at preserving it's historical and cultural remains. The people are welcoming and friendly, fuel cheap, mechanics excellent and probably one of the best places to visit in all the Mediterranean.
