I have found an old thread relating to tube worm growth on outdrives, but would welcome any current help or advice that any one can give.
This weekend our marina saw countless boat (motor and sail) return back to their berths after exiting and then finding that they had no/little propulsion. Bowthrusters were failing and it was announced that we had worm!!!
I think that the marina will help us out with 'lifts', but this growth has come on in 2 weeks, we can't possibly lift once a fortnight!!!
We do have a fresh water problem in the marina, it's been so wet that the run off the fields behind has been immense. I suspect that this is not helping.......
Any wise ( or otherwise) words appreciated! :(

Wouldn't have anything to do with the lousy weather we've had up until now?
It's been so cold/wet that not many boats have ventured out this year until last weekend when they discover that the underwater bits have grown a noticeable 'garden of weed/barnacles/worm etc. due to the lack of use.

I'm another Chichester Marina berth holder who is suffering with this. We got up early Saturday morning with plans to go and watch the J yachts racing round the island and only got as far as the main channel before having to return to base, no drive at all above 1k rpm.

Fair enough, these things happen but what I find particularly annoying is that the marina management seem to be in total denial that there is any problem. It doesn't seem to have effected all boats, but those berthed nearest grass banks. We have managed to get a lift and scrub booked for Friday, the earliest available slot, so have lost nearly a week of our family holiday.

Life is too short to get stressed by these things but we will be voting with our feet (props!) and moving marina.

I completely agree with you. And really we don't have much choice but to move do we? As I say you can't have the boat hauled out of the water once a fortnight and I can't see that the marina has any plans going forward.
We're on K pontoon and so are very close to the marsh run-off and it does seem that the boats this end seem to be more affected than those at the lock end.
I'm sorry that it's messed up your hols! We were only going for a buzz to run the engines to Nabs.
Right again, life is too short! ;)
Hope the weather lasts and you manage to get out on Friday. :):)
