Had a good weekend at the rally. Weather was pretty good except for the wind, and the sailpasts all went fine.

Lovely to see so many beautiful boats on display.

A few issues with the turns at each end. Had several chaps tried to overtake on the inside of my turns and were ducking and weaving through the flotilla. Forgetting colregs, if it was me and I saw 15 Dunkirk little ships turning in sequence dressed overall and clearly taking part in some sort of parade, I think I would tend to go around the outside of them and as far as possible stay out of the way.

Otherwise however, a good exercise in low speed handling and seeing the veterans go past was a very emotional moment I have to say.

I highly recommend the event to people who haven't been before.

Will try to post some tonight. I am sure someone on here must have some as well. Lots were taken from the bank. I spent most of my time trying not to sink the other Dunkirkers!

Saw you coming by us early evening.

Out of focus picture due to taking picture whilst comforting our dog who had just had his first encounter with an electric fence. Bad weekend for him, but that's another story. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Ha. Have to yell at the kids for not getting the fenders up/down fast enough! Where were you?

Sorry to hear about the dog!

We were at Henley on Saturday evening and stayed till fourish on Sunday. We were moored down near Temple Island but could just about see the parade.
The picture was taken between Hambledon and Hurley locks on the bend opposite Magpie Island. We often stop there for a late meal and return to the marina just before dark.

Actually that was just before I recall calling out to see why all but 3 fenders had been lifted. To which my son replied that he didn't feel like doing the rest!

That was also I think the point at which some other smaller wooden boat decided to try to pass me in spite of the narrow section and race to Hurley lock. Plenty of room to get through after that bend.

Not sure if it was this one. Thought it was a friend of yours.

Keep an eye on the Trad Boat Rally website for photo's.
Mike Phillips, the Rally photographer has around 1,000 photos taken over the weekend.
Glad you enjoyed the weekend.
Always difficult with non trad traffic on the open side of the river. Most are sensible but always one or two in a big hurry.
