A reminder of how much carp must be floating around the Pacific... a 165-tonne concrete pontoon has washed ashore in the US which has floated all the way from Japan, unlit... imagine the damage if you hit it

The vid refers to 5Mt of debris washed into the sea after the tsunami, with an estimated 1.5Mt of that floating away.

I was up monitoring Sarah Outens progress through a typhoon (she is safe after a Mayday was sent) and also doing WX routing for Martin (Bajansailor) onboard S/Y "Idea" on route to Horta and Pip and Kevin (Phanakapan) onboard S/Y "Wanda" on route Marquesas Islands (mid Pacific).

I was up monitoring Sarah Outens progress through a typhoon (she is safe after a Mayday was sent) and also doing WX routing for Martin (Bajansailor) onboard S/Y "Idea" on route to Horta and Pip and Kevin (Phanakapan) onboard S/Y "Wanda" on route Marquesas Islands (mid Pacific).

I met Sarah Outens and had a long chat at SIBS one year - she was there with her rowing boat having rowed the Indian Ocean IIRC. Lovely lady with a great outlook on life.
