Hi everyone,

Hope you all had a good summer of boating! Mine was great in St Tropez/Port Grimaud (reminds me to find some pictures to post)

anyway, i just wanted to find out some info about the try a boat feature at the southampton boat show this year, as the sbs website doesnt have much at all about it!

does anybody know what you can do? do you get driven or can you drive yourself? my guess is the former but are exceptions made for people with recent RYA powerboat 2 and ICC?

Probably pointless because I'm sure its booked up from the minute it opens on the day, but you never know!

thanks,

chris

p.s : If anyone is reading this that is exhibiting and is offering no obligation to buy test drives of anything up to 10 metres, please PM me (notice above certificates and obvious talent and experience in med boating) /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

No harm in asking lol

You won't be able to drive afaik. I don't think you ever have been able to, but there was a nasty accident a few years back when somebody got thrown from a small mobo and killed, after which the organisers made a number of stipulations (including that the drivers should have RYA Advanced Powerboat cert. (I think) and that only nominated people could drive).

Having said all of which, I went out on a Victoria 34 at SIBS many years ago, and the skipper let me have a go - but she was a bit more sedate /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif.

Yes, the boats get booked up early, especially at the weekends.

The accident invloved a boat out side of the try a boat event, it was a rib being driven by a dealer or his son.

From what I have heard there will be a large sunseeker, fariline
