Truma remote gas valve

I decided to bring the gas system on LUTRA up to current standards and bought a remote gas valve from Truma.

I then made a mistake. I read the instructions. Here they are http://www.truma.com/int/en/gas-supply/downloads.php# .On page 10 it says " It is also possible to com-bine the gas remote switch with a gas warning device or a main switch."

This struck me as an eminently sensible idea but the instructions were not there. So I emailed both NASA and Truma.

NASA have never replied. Obviously if you buy their kit you are on your own.

Truma have tried to help but I believe that language divides us.

The instructions from Truma are,

"Put the gas warning and the gas valve power supplies in series with the gas warning before the valve and when the gas alarm sounds it will shut off the valve"

!

This does not make any sense to me. What does the team think?

I don't know but I will be very interested in any answers, having the same set up...

AFAIK the Nasa Gas alarm is not designed to operate any external accessories such as a shut off valve.

If you want to operate a shut off valve in the event of an alarm then look at the Pilot alarms, http://technisolltd.co.uk/collections/gas-alarms
or better eg Nereus http://www.nereusalarms.co.uk/

I am sure if you get an alarm capable of operating a shut off valve it will come with appropriate instructions

I had a brilliant idea and emailed Force4. Immediate response giving a telephone number and a name at NASA. It was confirmed that the gas alarm could be connected to the valve but I would need written instructions. These I now await.

We certainly are a weird mob.

I guess it's going to require some internal mods. with addition of a relay either internally or externally.

Very probably a simple job for someone happy with a soldering iron and making connections to a printed circuit board. If the internals have not been changed from the days when it was a standard function it will may be very simple indeed.

Keep an eye on that valve. I was intending to fit one, but heard of several cases of them developing a fault that resulted them overheating - seriously so.
