Sorry to start a second Trotman barge thread, but there's one moored on the lock lay by at Sunbury now.

Made it impossible to get two boats on there.

What on earth are the EA up to???

I can sort of understand some of the issues with moving them when moored on non-EA land (well, only just - I'm being generous...) but in their OWN lock cut?

Honestly, why bother licensing my boat at all....

Head or tail lay-by? Name? Any pics?
Is this same boat reported as being there by Stingrayfan on 10th April - #7 ? i.e has it been there for at least 5 days?
Could it be reasonably described as obstructing navigation?

*** UPDATE - Just been advised that moved yesterday to just downstream of tail lay-by.

It's now opposite Queens Prom on the Hampton Court side about half a mile upstream of Kingston Bridge. Well one of them anyhow.

One of my grandfathers owned a house on Barge Walk (first one downstream from Ravens Ait). been redeveloped now but I think it may have included riparian owner rights. If so it is private and not owned by Royal Parks who patrol Barge Walk. Might explain the latest location chosen by the hotel boat owner. Go for the weak spots. £3 land registry search would confirm the ownership I expect.

The vessel is quoted as having sleeping for 21. Other reports (The Guardian) indicate that all rooms are often occupied. Am I not right in believing that any vessel that carries more than 12 requires the skipper to hold a Commercial Skipper's Licence?

I appreciate that Mr Trotman isn't required to abide by the same laws that the rest of us are (and is allowed by the authorities to do what he likes). It's also probably all different on the EA's river, so just an academic question really.

Blimey. While the punters seem to have been very gullible and foolish, I'm wondering if any forumites have had dealings with Djurberg? It seems unlikely to me that all of these folk conned themselves. (Perhaps we should start a new thread)

Not whilst it is alongside, sadly.

As of about 4pm today the Trotman Floating Horror Show is now moored by the Anglers in Walton-on-Thames.
I'm not sure if its the Sunbury hulk or the one that has been at D'oyley Carte for the past few weeks.
The mini-tug that did the towing is called Buster.

I took some pics today, and I must say close up it is an abomination, it is a health and safety death trap, with gas bottles all over , sometimes they burn wood on the top and the mooring lines are the cheap blue twine that worzel gummage uses to keep his trousers up, how anyone in their right mind would pay money to stay there is beyond me

Is that tug someones private vessel or operating on behalf of a company? Regardless, he's just become part of the problem.
What a scumbag. One blocked slipway at the start of the summer.

The tug 'Buster' has been part of his fleet for a few weeks now. Far from being impacted by the recent brief impounding of his floating businesses, he now has his vessels in better positions than before and the ability to move them as required. Nicely positioned now for the lucrative summer season now following a bit of assistance from the EA to get out of the tidal section and back upstream again.

I cannot believe that his fleet now includes a tug, to assist his squatting activities. Thanks EA, LBRuT and Kingston Council. Thanks for spending our money, achieving nothing with it and failing to protect the river:(
