So I've decided to make a new battery box to fit some Trojian's into. Everyone talks about the 105's but for the same size and only about £15 more you can get the T125 and for a little extra height, get the T-145s.

Seems like a no brainier to get the T-125s or am I missing something?

The cost per Ah is slightly higher with the T-125, but it's only pennies so you might as well go for the bigger capacity.

I went for the T125, no probs so far. The measurements on Trojan site are a bit oversize, they will fit the width of standard leisure 110s, I've heard the 105s are the same.

Really? My battery box is 345 x 354. Trojian quote them as 181 wide. They'd need to be 175 for me to comfortably fit them?

This is my main issue at the moment. My box is too small for T105s and removing the old boxes and installing new ones will be quite a pain in the BS. The current ones are really quite substantial and the screws are covered over with a very solid paint when the boat was made.

Making new boxes is a one-time exercise though, so it's worth doing. Perhaps make them slightly too big and then use pieces of rigid foam to fill any gaps. It's quite satisfying to sort it out; I did it on my old HR when I increased the domestic bank from 2 to 6 batteries.

What sort of AH are you holding now?

Sorry for the slight thread drift but is anyone here using the Trojan J185 series of battery and have any comments ?

is there only one Trojan T-105?
I've been quoted for T-105RE (for Renewable energy) don't remember seen and 125RE there (but I may well be wrong!)

I'm about to order 4 pieces next month so I might as well get the larger ones...

cheers

Sorry but my post was badly worded. The Trojans are not the same width as 110 leisure, what I should have said is that the fit my battery boxes which were made for the leisure batteries. Obviously there's more clearance in some boxes than others.

I have to start with an apology - I used to have a graph from Trojan that showed the lifecycle predictions for their standard ranges of batteries, and I've lost it. The reason I mention it is that I changed from T105 to T1275 to get many more cycles before death. I'm sure if you ask the technical people they'll send you a copy. Incidentally - and I have no link to them - www.tayna.co.uk are worth a look if you are buying.

I'm afraid you didn't need to change - T-1275 batteries are exactly the same technology as the T-105, and are rated for exactly the same cycle life. Trojan say both batteries will achieve 1200 cycles to 50% depth of discharge.

The chart of cycle life you referred to can be seen here on the Trojan website - http://www.trojanbattery.com/products/deep-cycle-flooded/signature-line-flooded-2/

Annoyingly the T-1275s are 181 wide like the T-105s. About 1cm wider than most other deep cycle or leisure batteries.

My battery box, which is built like Fort Knox, is 177 wide. Not bitter me.... No.
